SAN MILLÁN, June 9. (EUROPA PRESS) –

This Sunday, the Rioja Federation of Municipalities (FRM) received the Medal of La Rioja for bringing together the will and identity of all people in the traditional institutional event that is celebrated every June 9 in San Millán de la Cogolla, on the occasion of the of our autonomous community.

The president of the Government of La Rioja has presented the president of the FRM and mayor of Anguciana, Jorge Loyo, with the distinction. In a brief speech, Jorge Loyo expressed his gratitude for this recognition since “it is an honor to work for the well-being of the people of Rioja.”

As he has indicated “receiving the Medal is a tribute to the work and dedication of all those who have contributed to this Federation.” “Our mission – she explained – was to unite our municipalities but we know that the work does not end.”

The president of the FRM explained that the Federation “is an organization that represents all the municipalities, villages and minor entities of La Rioja, defends their interests and encourages collaboration between them.”

“CRUCIAL FOR SMALL MUNICIPALITIES”

Loyo explained that, in addition, in his work “he facilitates the exchange of experiences and joint projects. The Federation is also crucial for small municipalities.”

In his speech, the president of the FRM explained that this recognition “encourages us to continue in our efforts to achieve an increasingly better Rioja and build a prosperous future for all Rioja residents.”

But as he has indicated “the Federation would not have received this distinction without four basic pillars: the mayors and councilors of La Rioja, the workers of the City Councils, the workers of the Federation and, also, thanks to our families who are the ones who support us in difficult times.”

He has also expressed his gratitude to the Rioja Government “for its continuous support to the Federation” to achieve “the social, economic and territorial cohesion that guarantees equality.”

“Together we build a promising future for La Rioja and municipalities and the Government’s help has been essential to carry out our projects.”

“Thanks also to this commitment to the towns and municipalism, we have been able to face challenges that, otherwise, would have been impossible.” For all this, he has urged us to continue working together “for the well-being of our land.”

Finally, he asked that “our people not be forgotten because they are the guardians of our customs and traditions. Keeping these people alive is a matter of social justice and ensuring the future of the earth.”
