If compared to April (136,230 vehicles), the growth reaches 10.81%.

In the first 5 months of the year, 615,516 units were sold, which still represents a drop of 7.28% compared to the same period in 2023 (663,831 units).

In this period, the provinces that suffered the greatest decrease were La Rioja (26.11%), Formosa (25.15%) and Jujuy (24.63%). Those that fell the least were CABA (3.20%) and Mendoza (3.13%).

Alejandro Lamas, Secretary of the Automotive Chamber of Commercehighlighted that May “has been the best month for used car sales so far this year.”

“The abrupt drop in financing rates by banks, together with the rearrangement of values downward, were important factors that strongly contributed to energizing the sector during the last month”he explained.

He also mentioned “the widening of the exchange gap that occurred since the middle of the month as a moment of opportunity to carry out purchase operations.”

He said that stores throughout the country today have a “significant stock of cars, unlike previous months where there was a lack of products. There is an interesting offer of vehicles from different segments.”

“We hope that this volume sold in May will be maintained in June and we can aim for an auspicious second semester,” he said.
