The list of the far right National Rally (RN), a party led by Marine Le Pen, obtained 32.4% of the votes (31 seats) in the european elections this Sunday in Francemore than double that of the party of French President Emmanuel Macron, which could come second, with 15.2% (14 MEPs), according to exit polls.

It is the biggest victory for a party in a European election since 1984, and also the biggest achievement for Marine Le Pen’s party, which had never achieved such a large result. In this way, its space to be the second party with the most representation in Parliament

“By placing the list of the National Rally on a historical level, the French have sent a very clear message to a Macronist power that, vote after vote, is disintegrating: they no longer want a technocratic and superficial and increasingly brutal European construction that denies its history, despises its fundamental prerogatives and results in a loss of influence, identity and freedom,” Le Pen expressed on the social network X after knowing the first results.

If this result is confirmed, the head of the RN list, Jordan Bardella, would achieve the best results in France in European elections for 40 years and would put Macron’s Government in a delicate situation, since the leader of the National Rally (RN) will predictably ask for the dissolution of the National Assembly and new elections.

Other lists with European representation were that of La Francia Insumisa (LFI), with between 8.1% and 8.7%; the classic right of Los Republicanos (7.2%); and the ultranationalist Reconquista (around 5.5%).
