Although it did not rain as expected, the truth is that the influx of public on the streets of Logroño was much lower yesterday, Sunday, than on Saturday. The threat of rain, the cool weather and the European elections reduced the audience to events … such as the Renaissance Dances in the Plaza de San Bartolomé and the Children’s Folklore Festival in El Espolón, with just a handful of spectators.
And it was the Day of La Rioja, not only the patron saint festivities of San Bernabé, a metonymy that is repeated every year due to the proximity of the holidays of the region and its capital. As always, no matter how much time passes, what triumphs is the Tragantúa and the tastings, such as the squid tasting at Peña Aster next to the traditional Logroño slide.
The festive program took place yesterday as normal, with entertainment and concerts in the streets, the markets, the militia camp and the volunteer parades. La Peña La Unión organized the 1st Alpargata Throwing Contest. And Illo-Gronio, Charanga PK2, Jacinto Salazar and Coral Bona Cántica presented the ‘Himno de Logroño’ in El Espolón. Even a popular bingo held the Peña La Rondalosa.
