In the Memory Space Ex Comisaría Cuarta (Zavalla and Tucumán) in the city of Santa Fe, Jatón pointed out: “Many times it seems that the archives are dead and the archives, if one knows how to read them, talk about decisions, they talk about issues that have happened in another era, but that are captured on paper or in archives.”

Then, he highlighted that in the Former Fourth Police Station “there is the Provincial Memory Archive (Apmsf), from which many of the trials against humanity that are carried out, the investigation, are born from this place. That is why it is very important that during International Archives Month we are gathered here to reflect and exchange experiences, which is why archivists from a large part of the province have come.”

Memory Archive

The Provincial Memory Archive of Santa Fe (Apmsf), dependent on the Provincial Directorate of Democratic Memory of the Secretariat of Human Rights, was created within the scope of the Secretariat of State for Human Rights in October 2006, by Decree No. 2775. In March 2016, the Provincial Legislature approved Law No. 13,528, which established the Apmsf within the scope of the Secretariat of Human Rights.

From the progressive incorporation of documentary funds and collections to the Apmsf, preventive conservation, identification, classification, ordering and description tasks began. At the same time, documentary evidence began to be provided in trials for crimes against humanity processed in different federal courts in the Province and also in other jurisdictions. Simultaneously, queries from survivors and relatives of victims of State Terrorism began to be answered; also from researchers and students from various study houses.

The documents in relation to the aforementioned issues are found in the documentary collections of the Information Directorate – Intelligence Center, Penitentiary and Police Service of the Province of Santa Fe, especially those recovered in November 2020.
