A few weeks ago, a 22-year-old Argentine girl went viral on social networks after sharing her experience living in Germany. The influencer of TikTok (@ugcbyclarag) detailed how much she had earned in a day of work in the European country cleaning houses. Clara is 22 years old, she was born in Rosario and has been traveling around the world for some time. In her own words, her great dream is to be able to travel to all possible countries during the next few years of her life. Although she shares several photographs of her adventures on Instagram, it is on her channel TikTok where she tells in detail her experience as a traveler, gives some tips and shares her day to day life.
“I just finished cleaning the first house where I charge 18 euros an hour. Today I was there for an hour and a half so they paid me 27 euros plus 5 euros as a tip… “, the Rosario tiktoker began by saying in a viral video that already has more than a thousand comments and 68 thousand likes. It is worth clarifying that, according to the official exchange rate, 18 euros would be approximately 18 thousand Argentine pesos.
Then, in the same video, she told what a common work day in Germany is like for a domestic worker: “Today I have three houses in total. I’m going to the second one… today I theoretically work 7 and a half hours.”
After leaving her second home, the young employee said: “I charged this client 19 euros an hour. He paid me 38 euros and tipped me 2…”. And he continued: “In the last house I did 5 hours and 15 minutes because they asked me to do some extra things. Today I made 180 euros in almost 9 hours…”. This would be around 200 thousand Argentine pesos for just one day of work.
Who is Clara, the young tiktoker who travels the world
In another of her videos, Clara explained: “I am 22 years old and my goal is to be able to travel until I am 30. I want to know the world and work. I’m not interested in working 50 years at a job to have 10 days of vacation a year. “I also don’t want to be 60 years old, have osteoarthritis, retire and just travel while I hate the world.”
Then he highlighted: “I’m interested in having simple jobs where I can earn good money. I had jobs where I had a horrible time, eh. I worked as a waitress, it was a lot of stress and I ended up with arrhythmia from working in a bar.”
“I stay calm with easy jobs or volunteering where I don’t have to spend money. I did this modality in Bariloche and Ireland. They gave me meals and I was able to see cool places,” he later explained about another type of way to get to know the world.
Finally, he made reference to the criticism that his video garnered in which he told how much money he earned cleaning houses, he said: “It strikes me that many people have this problem that I choose to do this.. “I imagine that someone is offended because I clean houses and I understand that, but I am interested in earning money and traveling.”
