More than $1.3 billion will be invested in sports infrastructure this year in Valparaíso

A series of improvements in sports infrastructure are being carried out this year in various venues in the city thanks to the million-dollar investment promoted by the Citizen Mayor’s Office in this matter.

This was highlighted by the person in charge of the Community Development Directorate, Carla Meyer, who pointed out that “the Municipality has had an investment of more than 1,300 million pesos in different places in the commune that aim to revitalize and strengthen sports spaces that are fundamental for the work that the Municipality does in terms of security, entertainment. We believe in the transformative power of social sport, therefore, for us it is not an expense, but rather an investment that aims to improve the quality of life of people that allows us to provide safe spaces for the community.”

One of the most significant advances is the one that includes the installation of synthetic grass in the Benito Parraguez and Estadio O’Higgins auditoriums, for $400 million each; and the improvement and repair of the Andrés Bahamondes auditorium for an amount of $100 million.

This investment is widely valued by the community in these sectors of Valparaíso, who appreciate having renovated sports venues.

Ian Carla Bascone, president of the O’Higgins Association, stated that “the installation of synthetic grass in the O’Higgins Stadium seems wonderful to us, since I can remember, every so often the community has been excited about the issue and today we already have the certainty that the works are going to begin.”

For his part, José Zamora, interim president of the Los Placeres Football Association, expressed that “we are satisfied with the management carried out by the Municipality of Valparaíso that will allow the installation of a layer of synthetic grass on our field, which was a desire they had. all the Placeres athletes.”

OTHER SPORTS INVESTMENTS

One of the most anticipated improvements is the one that was developed in the Osmán Pérez Freire Auditorium, works that included an investment of $98,460,228 in the repair of perimeter closures, mesh to catch balls, plumbing, improvements in bathroom and dressing room fixtures, interior finishes and exterior and replacement of lighting. Likewise, the 200-square-meter Calisthenics Park was installed on Portales Beach with an injection of resources for $33,418,294.

Regarding the acquisition and installation of luminaires, these include those of the indoor gymnasium of the O’Higgins Stadium with an investment of $4.5 billion, works that contemplate the change from the halogen lighting system to LED luminaires inside the venue.

On the Playa Ancha hill, with an investment of $135,995,219, there is lighting equipment, replacement of the playing surface carpet, installation of equipment for practicing various sports, perimeter closure and universal accessibility ramp of the Séptimo de Línea Multicourt.

Meanwhile, in the Placilla sector, the improvement of the Don Mario court is being developed, for an amount of $135,000,000, which considers the replacement of synthetic grass to a concrete mat and improvement of the perimeter closure.
