The Culture delegation of the Provincial Council of Córdoba launches the 1st Young Performers Competitionfrom the provinceaimed at students of the professional degree in Music, with the aim of “promoting and rewarding artistic excellence, specifically in the musical field.”

The person in charge of the area, Gabriel Duqueexplained that “the contest is aimed at Professional Music Conservatories in the province, and with it we seek to promote excellence and the development of skills among his students.”

“Music has many young people dedicated to it in the province, that is why the delegation wanted to organize a contest to give visibility to these students and promote their careers when they are young, before reaching Higher Education,” said Duque.

For his part, the coordinator of the competition and director of the Rafael Orozco Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, Manuel Urenahas expressed his gratitude for the organization of the contest and has stressed that “in the classes a hard work that many times does not go out into the streets, that is why these awards are extraordinary so that students and teachers have a goal throughout the year and a project in sight.

Who shows up

As indicated by the coordinators of the contest, “you may enter this contest any student of the professional degree in Music, without age limit, enrolled in any of the Professional Music Conservatories of the province, the CPM Marcos Redondo of Pozoblanco, the CPM Maestro Chicano Muñoz of Lucena and the CMP Músico Ziryab of Córdoba”.

Participants may present themselves as soloists and/or members of a cluster camera and vice versa. In addition, three categories are established depending on the enrollment course; first and second professional cycle; third and fourth professional course, and fifth and sixth course.

Awards

The jury will award in each category two awards, a first prize soloist and a first prize chamber music. For first and second year students the prizes will be 1,000 and 2,000 euros (soloist and chamber), for third and fourth 2,000 and 4,000 euros and for fifth and sixth the prizes will be 3,000 and 6,000 euros respectively.

Likewise, the Culture deputy has announced that “in addition to receiving these awards, the students will carry out concerts before the end of the academic year during which the contest takes place”.

There will be a selection phase of the candidates, which will be based on the evaluation of the video submitted to the competition with the registration application, and a final phasewhich will be held in November at the Rafael Orozco Superior Conservatory of Music in Córdoba.

He Total budget of the prizes amounts to 18,000 euros and the deadline for submitting applications will be 4 months, ending on October 6, as indicated by the organization.
