The International Cycling Union (UCI) announced on June 11 the distribution of quotas in BMX Racing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Gameswhere there will be a large Latin representation.

Colombia, the most successful country in this sport with six Olympic medals, will have the largest delegation at Paris 2024 with five cyclists – three in the men’s category and two in the women’s category. Only the United States and the Netherlands match that figure.

The coffee-growing nation closed the qualification period as the second best in the men’s Olympic ranking, which gave the right to three places in Paris 2024; and in women she finished fifth, thus securing two more quotas.

Argentina earned a quota by finishing eighth in the men’s Olympic rankings, thanks in part to the results of its last two Olympic representatives, Gonzalo Molina (4th in the 2022 World Cup) and Nicolas Torres (8th in the 2023 World Cup).

Ecuador also secured a place in the men’s category thanks to the 8th place of Wilson Goyes in the 2023 Pan American BMX Racing Championship, which made it the best nation in the competition among those that have not obtained a quota by ranking.

Finally, Chile secured another place in the men’s category as the best nation without ranking quota in the 2024 World Cup. On this occasion, Mauricio Molina finished 8th.

National Olympic Committees (NOCs) have exclusive authority over the representation of their respective countries at the Olympic Games. Therefore, the participation of each athlete in the Paris Games will depend on the selection of their NOC to represent their delegation in Paris 2024.

The BMX Racing competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be held on August 1 and 2 at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines BMX Stadium.
