This Saturday, June 8, the first date of the Cross Country Championship, organized by the National University Sports Federation RM (FENAUDE RM), took place at the South Campus of the University of Chile.

The date brought together three institutions: Pontificia Universidad Católica, Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María and the University of Chile, whose athletes competed in the 8k women’s, 10k men’s, 3.2k women’s and men’s, and 6.4k mixed relay categories.

The Civil Engineering student and selected U. of Chile, Fernando Fritz, who obtained first place in 10K, commented on the characteristics of the circuit: “it did not have many ups or downs, but rather there were a lot of closed curves and you had to know how to take advantage of them . So I managed to take advantage of that, get a good rhythm after all those corners and with that get ahead of the group.”

The U. de Chile Medicine student, Catalina Aguirre, obtained second place in the 8k category and commented on her experience: “I felt good, the second lap I started to get tired, I started to feel it because I run on the street, I don’t I’m used to running like this. It is a completely different experience than running on the street, but entertaining.”

For his part, the Renewable Natural Resources Engineering student, Salvador Orellana, second place in the 4k honor category, expressed that “it was hard because of the number of curves there are. The obstacles they put in place were still heavy. But I felt good, we started a little softly, but then we started to separate and the places were established.”

Regarding the holding of the event in the South Campus of the University of Chile, the athlete indicated that “it seems good to me that this space is also used as a sports venue, that sports are integrated into the campus and that the facilities that are provided are provided.” there is”.

Enthusiasm that is shared by the selected Catalina Aguirre, who indicated that “I find it very cool to occupy this circuit because we always went to other universities, so it’s cool that we can receive the other universities.”

For his part, the director of Sports and Physical Activities of the University of Chile and president of Fenaude RM, Dylan Padilla, indicated that “we are very happy as Mesa FENAUDE to be able to continue holding our tournaments. In this case, we were able to host Cross Country as the University of Chile and particularly on the Antumapu campus, thanks to the local sports unit that has allowed and organized a very entertaining circuit.”

Finally, Dylan Padilla also announced the FENAUDE RM tournaments to come, “at the end of the first semester, we have judo, taekwondo, table tennis dates coming up, so we still have many things to develop and, of course, all the finals of the collective sports, that we are already entering the final stretch of the qualifiers and the first phase of each of the sports.” In addition, he extended the invitation to participate and support these university sporting events.
