Initiative will be carried out with families from the Repollal sector in the commune of Guaitecas.

These days, the Municipality of Guaitecas will apply for 17 projects for the construction of new homes on its own site, through which the replacement of several homes in the commune has been financed, with architectural designs that incorporated a strong heritage component, such as shingles of larch on its facades.

The project was started by the housing office of the Municipality of Guaitecas and has been working for some time, as indicated by Luisa Torres, in charge of this municipal unit.

The office is at its peak in terms of its application process, since during these days the projects will be submitted to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and the files to the Housing and Urban Planning Service.

Of the 17 housing projects, Luisa Torres added, five are intended to be executed in Melinka and 12 in Repollal, since in the latter community significant efforts have been made for some time so that many families obtain ownership titles for their properties and can, for example, opt for this subsidy.

“We have the files of 17 families that have property titles and most of them also have health permits, which is the health resolution, which is a condition for presenting a housing project and we are now in the process of entering the observations for construction permits, which were minimal,” the municipality’s social worker said in this regard.

Regarding the housing projects, Luisa Torres said that they are like some that this year finished being executed in the commune.

“These are houses that come with a heritage subsidy, with an architectural rescue with larch shingles, so all the houses are going to be similar to the ones that were received about a month ago,” he indicated.

“In addition, there is a new subsidy that was incorporated into this rural habitability program, which is for the transfer of materials, since one of the reasons why construction is not carried out far away in the territories is due to the high cost of transporting the materials. I think these houses are going to be around 1900 UFs,” said the municipal official.

The mayor of Guaitecas Marcos Silva, who visited the Repollal families before finishing the application process for their new homes, said that it is a subsidy that not only responds to the need to have a decent home, but also has attached subsidies to even develop a business.

“Another good thing about this subsidy is that, in addition to the house, it comes with a winery, a woodshed, and a room for selling a product, and the amount of the subsidy increased, which is good news for those who are applying.” said the communal authority.
