With a parade set by music, dance and theater, more than 600 teachers from Antioquia walked the streets of Rionegro to begin the Antioquia Teachers’ Games. With the presence of the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón Cardona and the mayor of Rionegro, Jorge Humberto Rivas Urrea, The sports and cultural fairs of the Antioquian teachers were opened.
At the opening event of the games, Governor Andrés Julián told the teachers “Everything that is within our reach to promote the well-being of our teachers must be done, everything that gives them tranquility, peace and joy will be something that will result in the educational quality of all Antioquians, many congratulations, we Participate with great enthusiasm, with the display of talent that each one has and may that give you a lot of joy and a lot of happiness in your hearts, a very big hug.”
The Teaching Games will take place in 10 municipalities of the department (Tarazá, Chigorodó, Santa Fe de Antioquia, Cisneros, Yondó, Donmatías, Támesis, Girardota, Guatapé and Rionegro)between June 9 and 14, in line with the institutional development week of Antioquia teachers.
They will participate in sports 7,075 sports teachers from municipalities not certified in education, while 687 teachers will participate in folkloric disciplinesamong them 141 from municipalities certified in education.
In Rionegro, the spaces for cultural disciplines will be held within the framework of the Departmental Folklore and Cultural Meeting of the Antioquia Teachers’ Union, for which three places will be available; the main park of Rionegro or Plaza de La Libertad, where the disciplines of music and dance will be developed; the Ricardo Rendón Bravo Auditorium for oral and theater modalities and the Convention House for painting exhibitions.
In the other 9 host municipalities, the sports disciplines of soccer, volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer, softball, track and field, swimming, chess, cycling, shuffleboard, mini shuffleboard and table tennis.
The winners of the Sports Teaching games will qualify for the Departmental Final of the year 2025. Meanwhile, Those classified in folklore will go to the National Folklore Final in Manizales in the month of October of this year. The Government of Antioquia invites the inhabitants of the host municipalities to accompany the teachers in the sports and folkloric competitions.
