Although during the last week there was an increase in seismic activity at the Nevado del Huila Volcano, the Colombian Geological Service indicated that the alert level remains yellow.

Through a statement, the Colombian Geological Service confirmed that despite the increase in seismic activity at the Nevado del Huila Volcano, it remains on yellow alert.
“In the week between June 4 and 10, 2024, specifically June 7 and 9, the seismic activity of this volcano presented a significant increase, both in energy and number of events and was characterized by events associated with fluid dynamics inside the volcanic structure“said the entity.
“On June 8, a seismic signal generated by a flood in the Páez River was recorded and was reported
in the Yusayú and Tóez sectors (municipality of Páez, in the department of Cauca), as well as increases
in the river flow with an appreciable mud content”complements the writing of the SGC.
“The alert status for volcanic activity remains on yellow alert,” concludes the statement from the Colombian Geological Service. Although it seems that the volcano’s seismic activity has returned to normal in recent days, it is under constant monitoring by the competent authorities.
