The Women’s Union Table was formed in Córdoba

With a great call, the Union Women’s Table, Córdoba branch, was formed. It is a local delegation of a national board that operates in Buenos Aires, and that works for gender equality in unions of all activities.

The event was held at the headquarters of the Trade Employees’ Association of the city of Córdoba, and was attended by more than 250 women.

Provincial legislators participated, including Nadia Fernández, first vice president of the Legislature of Córdoba, and Silvina Jurich, who is also secretary of Women, Gender and Diversity of the Córdoba Commerce Guild.

It was a day under the motto “More women, better unionism” that brought together women unionists who hold various positions in the board of directors of their respective unions.

The meeting and formation of the Córdoba Union Women’s Table had the support of Vice Governor Myrian Prunotto.

Women union members from different provinces and also from the interior of Córdoba participated in the meeting to form the local branch.

One of the speakers at the call was legislator Nadia Fernández, who spoke about the task of women in union activity.

“Unions are very important to defend the rights of workers. As in many areas, it is very difficult for women to find our place in union activity, as it is also in political activity. The formation of this table of women union members will be very important to work for gender equality in the unions,” remarked the vice president of the Legislature, who also highlighted that the Córdoba Trade Union has a Secretariat for Women and Diversity.

“All unions should have a Women’s Secretariat,” said legislator Nadia Fernández.

During the development of the activity, the Buenos Aires Union Force Women’s Table was present in three panels. Various topics were presented referring to the new challenges that unionism presents today, and what is the leading role of women in overcoming them.

The objective of this table is to make visible the work that women union members have been doing within the unions.

In addition to planning strategies and providing constant training to have tools and knowledge when occupying decision-making spaces within the unions.
