A young man died on Wednesday afternoon at the Emergency Hospital in Córdoba, where he was hospitalized in a very serious condition after being shot in the head in an attack carried out by other people in the Renacimiento neighborhood, in the eastern area. From the capital. The victim’s name was Alejandro Mauricio Soria and he was 28 years old.

A man and his son are detained for the crime. These are Daniel Omar Fernández (45) and Brandon Ismael Fernández (20).

Both were charged with the crime of homicide aggravated by the use of a firearm, by order of the investigating prosecutor Florencia Espósito.

Both are housed in Penitentiary Establishment (EP) number 9 and will be sent to Bouwer prison.

Since Tuesday night, when everything happened, there has been high tension in the Renacimiento neighborhood.

The thing is that relatives and friends of the victim (who had a criminal record) attacked the suspects’ house and had confrontations with the Police. There are threats of retaliation.

Since then, there has been a strong presence of the Infantry Guard to prevent new incidents.

Regarding the crime itself, sources in the case indicated that it was a “fight between two families over old disputes.” In this framework, it is not clear precisely what the origin of this confrontation between factions was.

Some versions that reached the ears of the Police reported rivalries supposedly linked to drug dealing: the sale of drugs.

In any case, everything for now is within the framework of suspicions and there are no certainties. The investigation is underway.

For the Police and Justice, the investigation of this new case of urban violence in Córdoba is more than advanced. However, new arrests are not ruled out.

The episode once again reveals the high carrying of firearms in the neighborhoods and how disputes are resolved in the streets.

Attack, shooting and crime

It all happened on Tuesday night in Block F, in Renacimiento.

According to sources in the case, everything happened when Alejandro Mauricio Soria (28) was returning home in a gray Fiat Palio. Other people accompanied him.

“They had gone to buy some pizzas for dinner. And other people were waiting for them,” a high-ranking source commented on the cause. The voice.

These people would have been Daniel Fernández (who has a criminal record) and his son Brandon. They are both neighbors in the same area.

According to some witnesses, the man was carrying the 12-gauge shotgun. His boy had two revolvers: a 38 and a 32.

“They went to look for Mauricio Soria at his house. We don’t really know why. But they went looking for him and opened fire,” confided another source in the case.

Soria was shot in the head at point-blank range. The people who were with him started the car at full speed. The Palio received more shots from both revolver and shotgun pellets.

The boy was taken to a hospital in the area for quick care. Given his seriousness, he was referred to the Emergency Hospital, where he was hospitalized connected to a respirator and in critical condition.

The first police officers who intervened that same Tuesday night arrested the accused. They were both at home. In the first instance they were accused of attempted aggravated homicide. The figure has already changed.

The firearms had been thrown into the yards of other homes.

On Wednesday afternoon, Soria died at the health center.

Hypotheses in dance

The first hypothesis of the police investigations is that there had been a difference between both factions for several months. “They were gouging out their eyes,” confided a detective.

In this framework of suspicions, everything points to differences allegedly linked to the sale of drugs in Renacimiento, a complex neighborhood that makes up a conglomerate where drug trafficking and violence have been wreaking havoc for some time.

Soria’s relatives said that the boy had gone to buy food and that, upon his return, he was ambushed and executed.

For their part, voices close to the accused indicated that Soria had had a fight with Fernández Jr. (he allegedly crashed his motorcycle) after a “rivalry over a girl.”
