From Provincial Ovalle, a team that is part of the Second Division of national football, they confirmed in the last few hours that the duel they must play against Cobresal for the round of 16 of the Northern Zone regional phase of the Chile Cup, will be played this Monday, the 17th. June, at 3:00 p.m., at the La Portada stadium in La Serena.
The Limarí club had to give up the location in the Perla del Limarí, as a result of the replanting work carried out by the Parques Johnson company in the Diaguita stadium and which will last until mid-July.
Through a statement, the club informed its fans and the general public that “at this time Provincial Ovalle does not have the Diaguita stadium to play the Copa Chile championship, which is undergoing replanting work that should extend for two months”.
Faced with this situation, they had to go out and look for other options outside the city to face Cobresal, so the efforts to play on another court “we started three weeks ago and in La Portada they only had available to rent on June 17 and , from Coquimbo there was no response to our request.”
They reiterate that if they did not adopt playing in La Portada, “the club would have had to leave the region and choose to play in Copiapó, with the corresponding high associated costs.”
Finally, and along with thanking the municipality of La Serena for allowing the Serena Coliseum to be used and always having a good disposition to support the club, “we also thank the fans who understand this situation and do not just dedicate themselves to attacking without having knowledge of the work “What lies behind the organization of a sporting event.”
Although they understand that it was the best time they could opt for, since La Portada will be busy with different events that weekend, they pointed out that this match could have a capacity of 1,000 people with a general admission of $4,000.
PARTY IN CHAAPA
In the commune of Salamanca, meanwhile, they hope to face the low temperatures and rains announced until Friday in the province of Choapa, along with the heat and intensity that a soccer match offers. In this way, the team from Brujas – current leader of the Third Division A – will receive on Saturday, from 6:00 p.m., its counterpart from Coquimbo Unidos – sub-leader of the First Division – for the round of the round of 16 of the regional phases of the Chile Cup, a unique duel that will be played at the number 1 sports venue in Salamanca.
This was announced to Diario El Día by the provincial delegate of Choapa, Nathaly Carvajal, who highlights that “by virtue of what was stated in the Carabineros report and the meetings held with Estadio Seguro, the decision was made to authorize the meeting by Chile Cup, between Brujas de Salamanca and Coquimbo Kingdom, without the presence of visiting public.
They justify the measure of having fans only from the local team, because, “both in the venue and on its perimeter, the conditions are not met to accommodate the fans of both teams. We understand that the priority for the inhabitants of Salamanca and for us is that the sporting event takes place without problems and that the family atmosphere that has characterized the sporting events held in our province prevails. “The decision allows us to have security measures so that the match takes place without setbacks.”
In this regard, the delegate was “very happy with the efforts made, which will allow us, for the first time, to host a football spectacle in the province of Choapa, setting a precedent for future meetings.”
