The IV World Circular Economy Summit begins today in Córdoba

The IV World Circular Economy Summit will take place between today and next Saturday in the Córdoba Fair Complex of our city, with the presence of more than 70 local, national and international speakers. Among the dissertations that stand out for this fourth edition, is «Community Economy: green jobs, environmental protection, economic development and social inclusion»today at 12:15 p.m.

The panel, moderated by the journalist Florence Donovanwill be made up of the Italian Giulia Detomati, CEO of Invento Innovation Lab; the swiss Sacha Pictet, director of RWC LLC; and the Colombian Nathalia Gómez Andrade, corporate director of Sustainability at ISA Colombia. The closing of the first day will be moderated by the journalist Lucas Vianofrom La Voz del Interior, who will guide the conversation titled «Global alliances for the decarbonization of the economy». It will be at 5 p.m.

The Moroccan Soha Benchekroun, representative of the SOUTH-SOUTH association and cooperation for 4C Morocco, will star in this space; Canadian Marcos Badra, director of the Circular Economy Management and Sustainable Development program of the city of Richmond; and the Belgian Piotr Barczak, director of the Circular Economy Program of the African Circular Economy Network Foundation.

Tomorrow at 12:15 it will be time for the talk “Innovation and science for sustainable development”, moderated by journalist Virginia Porcella, as one of the highlights of the second day.

The Argentine Claudia Kenbel, researcher at Conicet-UNRC, will be present; the German Michael Kuhndt, director of the Collaborating Center on Sustainable Production and Consumption (CSCP); and the Vietnamese Hong Quan Nguyen, director of the Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED).

The closing of the central schedule will have the talk “Climate change and activism”, led by journalist Gabriela Vizental. It will be attended by the activist Alice Piva and the former Climate Secretary of Rio de Janeiro, Luciano Páez (both from Brazil), and the CEO of Kilimo, the Córdoba entrepreneur Jairo Trad.

Other notable speakers come from South Africa, India, Switzerland, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile and Kenya, among other countries, who will pass through the Green Pavilion, where the Conferences, the Circular Experiences cycle and the Circular Incubator will take place.

Finally, tomorrow the Circular Incubator prizes will be awarded. The summit will have its last day of activity on Saturday, when all the other proposals can be visited.

What will be the main local exhibitions

The IV World Circular Economy Summit will receive numerous exhibitors from our city, who will reflect the important activity of the organizations that work on this topic in Córdoba, as well as examples from other provinces and abroad. In Córdoba, the successful cases of application are extensive.

Among the private companies and startups that will be presented telling their experiences are En Vivo Producciones, Astori Structures, Grupo Libertad and 3C Construcciones, among other protagonists of this edition. Local public management will also have its moment with presentations by directors of the Ente Córdoba Obras y Servicios (COyS), Tamse, Urbacor, Cormecor, the Ente BioCórdoba and the School of Circular Economy (EMEC).

Representatives of the public and private sectors will also come from the provinces of Santa Fe, Entre Ríos, Salta and Mendoza to present their actions regarding the Circular Economy. Important national institutions will be present such as the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (Inta), the National Institute of Industrial Technology (Inti), the Argentine Institute of Standardization and Certification, the Argentine Chamber of Construction and the Argentine Chamber of Bioinputs.

The university presence will be guaranteed with the National University of Córdoba, the Blas Pascal University and the Champagnat University of Mendoza. Other relevant organizations include the Argentine Federation of Cartoneros, Carreros y Recicladores, the Argentine Wine Corporation and the British Council, as well as founders, CEOs and directors of important startups in the country.

Córdoba positions itself and proves to be a beacon in the application of environmental public policies, and through this event, it seeks to show, in a clear example of federalism, what is happening in other sectors of the country that also work on this matter.

Posts with recreational activities for boys and girls

The little ones will be able to enjoy and participate in the Summit in different centers with recreational activities. This event, organized by the Municipality of Córdoba, will take place at the Córdoba Fair Complex, with free admission. The different posts will be available on three days from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Conservation Area of ​​the Biodiversity Park will be present in the first post of the “Community” tent, where videos and conservation projects will be presented on a screen, and a brief speech will be given about the work of the area.

In addition, an interactive game will be developed where children will experience the coordination and effort necessary for transdisciplinary conservation tasks.

In another post, “Circular”, children will learn that waste can be resources. Through a balance game in pairs, they must transport waste from a Big Bag to the corresponding basket, without letting it fall, for correct separation.

Another post is “Knowledge” where a game similar to Mind Race will be played, where participants will advance on a vinyl board on the ground, answering questions about Environmental Care, Circular Economy and Biodiversity. The giant dice will determine the questions and actions to take, such as going back or losing a turn.

Finally, the fourth post is “Creativity” where they can build musical instruments with recyclable elements. In groups of 4 or 5, with the help of the staff in charge, the children will create their own instruments and then use them in a musical closing with the band Gira y Suena, at the end of the tour.
