The fourth session of 2024 took place this Wednesday, June 12, in the Legislature of Tierra del Fuego, where more than 80 issues were discussed and different laws were passed.
Chaired over the day by the head of the Legislative Branch, Vice Governor Mónica Urquiza, the sanction of matter 232/24 was highlighted, in which Tierra del Fuego adheres to National Law No. 26,858.
This law allows people with disabilities to travel accompanied by guide or companion dogs and enter public spaces with them; It already came with an opinion from the General Legislation Commission No. 1.
Another sanction corresponded to the law that extends the declaration of the Environmental Emergency due to forest fires throughout the province, authored by the Green Party.
Legislator Colazo Laura, promoter of the initiative, alluded to the disaster that occurred a year and a half ago in the Heart of the Island fire, which claimed 6,500 hectares of native forests.
“It will take hundreds of years to recover these areas,” said the environmental parliamentarian, and urged the community to assume responsibilities in fire prevention.
In turn, Colazo specified that new exceptions will be issued in certain places that were evaluated by the enforcement authority.
The declaration of strategic interest for the commercial air connection between the Fuegian island territories and the Argentine Antarctica, a project presented by legislator Pino Juan Carlos (PJ), was also sanctioned.
In addition, draft resolutions and declarations linked to social, cultural and sports issues were approved and, at the end of the session, at the request of the PJ bloc, a resolution was approved that repudiates the repression that occurred yesterday in the National Congress, in especially that suffered by national deputies from Tierra del Fuego.
