La Rioja rewards the values ​​and spirit of the European Union

This Thursday, the Government of La Rioja presented the awards for the 2024 edition of the ‘Europe in my eyes’ and ‘Europe in your objective’ contests, organized by the Europe Direct point in La Rioja, which aim to promote knowledge of the European Union, its values ​​and spirit among the youngest citizens of the region. In total, 136 children and young people have participated, a figure that more than doubles the number of contestants in the 2023 edition. In fact, this increase in the number of participants reaches 130.5%.

The Minister of Finance, Public Governance, Digital Society and Spokesperson, Alfonso Domínguez, and the Vice-Minister of Education, University and Vocational Training, Miguel Ángel Fernández Torroba, presented the diplomas to the winners in an event held this afternoon in the courtyard of the Public Library of La Rioja, in which both have highlighted the success of this year’s call.

Alfonso Domínguez has also stressed the importance of young people from La Rioja internalizing the importance and weight that the EU has in their daily lives, and has encouraged schools to be main actors through education.

116 preschool and primary school students participated in the ‘Europe in my eyes’ contest. For its part, the ‘Europe in your goal’ contest has received 20 candidates for the two editions called: a junior contest aimed at children between 12 and 17 years old, and another youth contest for young people between 18 and 35 years old.
