The day included the participation of union representatives from Antofagasta and Coquimbo.

Dialogue and exchange of ideas included the working group “Advance towards 40 hours”, which brought together representatives of the Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN), with leaders of unions 1, 2 and 4 of Antofagasta and 5 of Coquimbo, as well of institutional representatives.

The director of the UCN People Department, Mg. Roberto Stolzenbach Ramírez highlighted that the idea of the meeting was to set parameters and exchange opinions on the progressive implementation of the 40-hour work law in the Institution. “Through this meeting we seek to generate agreements that allow us to reduce 45 minutes in the current weekly work day and thereby reach 43 hours of work.”.

With this action, a clear sign of commitment is given on the part of the UCN to make sustained progress towards the implementation of the 40 hours before the deadline set by the Labor Directorate for the year 2028 and, thereby, promote greater conciliation of work with the personal and family life of its collaborators, which is referred to by the People Director when stating that “The UCN shows its commitment to not only respond to the law, but also to advance more quickly in the implementation of this legislation before the year 2028, which is the deadline to reach the 40 hours stipulated by the law”.

After the meeting, Roberto Stolzenbach said he was satisfied with the progress made and the possibility of generating spaces for dialogue-work with unions and representatives of UCN authorities, to advance in regulatory matters that will have an impact on the UCN Community.
