Before winter, they condition Route 40 between Bariloche and El Bolsón

National Roads allocated funds to carry out “conservation” tasks in the National Route 40 between Bariloche and El Bolsón for the winter season and taking advantage of a window of absence of precipitation in which patching and other minor interventions could be carried out.

The deterioration of the route between the two mountain cities of Río Negro is a recurring reason for complaints from political leaders, intermediate institutions and citizens of the region. The comprehensive repair with repaving that has been demanded for a long time has not arrived because there must be an executive project and budget allocated to National Highways.

Meanwhile, as usual, Road District 20 implemented tasks to replace “metal railings in the area of the Bariloche ring road, structural package drainage, patching and area optimization on the way to National Route 40.”

In the last week, National Highways also reactivated improvement tasks on National Route 22 in the Alto Valle, with maintenance between Allen and Roca.

According to the agency, in the mountain range the main task was focused on drainage. Roads indicated that “It is essential to depress the water layer and prevent it from rising to the surface due to capillarity and break the structural package of the road.”

For these tasks, “an excavation is carried out to the waterhole, a geotextile mesh is placed that prevents contamination of the granular material and allows good drainage, and it is subsequently filled.”
Roads promised that it will continue with conservation tasks depending on weather conditions. Heavy rain is forecast this Friday and snow could return next Monday.
