The strong breeze that occurs in front of the sea of Mayapo is conducive to the practice of Kite Festival and that is why its organizers have chosen this heavenly place to hold this year’s version, which will take place from June 25 to July 1.
He Kite Fest Guajira 2024 It is an event that celebrates the kiteboarding either kitesurfing as the flagship sport of the department and that promotes the tourist and economic development of the department. The beaches of the Mayapo district will receive the participants of the competition and hundreds of tourists from different parts of the world, who will come to La Guajira to enjoy and experience this important international meeting.
The Kite Fest Guajira 2024 is the second edition of this sporting event, which also took place in 2023. This year, the festival will last seven days and these are some of the activities that are planned for that week.
There will be a journey of 4×4, ATVs, motorcycles, and boats to converge on the closing weekend in Mayapo; a trade fair for vehicles, boats, boating equipment, clothing, travel agencies and exhibitors of local crafts and experiences.
Likewise, a kiteboarding exhibition where Beto Gomez will be the protagonist. The Wayuu athlete, champion in this discipline, will show his skills on the beaches of Mayapo.

This event is an opportunity to give visibility to the department and the sectors and businesses in the region. For this reason, we will have the support of the Armed Forces to guarantee the safety of those attending the festival.
Likewise, the Sailing League, one of the main activities of the festival, thanks to which the department’s kitesurf schools will be consolidated. To celebrate this achievement, a national ranking sailing competition will be held during Kite Fest Guajira 2024.
