Valle del Cauca was the guest of honor at the Colombo China Week that takes place in Bogotá where, in addition to holding academic and scientific forums, significant experiences were exchanged on topics of socioeconomic development and research.

“Valle del Cauca is working for regional development and it is important to articulate efforts with international cooperation, which allows great achievements to be achieved. This event is very important, because it allows us to share the investment opportunities that Colombia and our department have in fields related to environmental sustainability, infrastructure and social development,” said the Governor, Dilian Francisca Toro.

The focus of the meeting was on one of the main characteristics of the Chinese development model: opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector, oriented towards sustainability. “The idea is to strengthen the paths of cooperation with China in these areas that are very relevant. Valle del Cauca, in particular, has very powerful twinning agreements, which could be developed in practical cooperation, through energy and port development projects,” said Guillermo Puyana Ramos, president of the Colombo China Association.

“China is committed to strengthening the construction of its own ecological civilization and thereby contributing to global environmental governance. At the 75th UN General Assembly, held in China in 2020, our country set the goal of reaching peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030, and carbon neutrality before 2060,” said Zhu Jingyang, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, in Colombia.

The meeting held at Casa del Valle was attended by a delegation from the department, which shared their knowledge and experiences and analyzed the advances in technology and energy policies in China, and how they can be adapted and implemented in Colombia and Valle del Cauca.
