Procedures carried out by the Prosecutor’s Office for Analysis and Complex Crime, FACC, together with OS9 of Carabineros, allowed the arrest of a 42-year-old Chilean woman as the alleged perpetrator of the robbery that affected a bank branch on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 12. located in the Parque Brasil sector of Antofagasta.
The woman, with record for theft and fraud, was formalized this afternoon for the crime of robbery with intimidation and, at the request of the Public Ministry, was subject to the precautionary measure of preventive detention due to danger to the security of society.
According to what was stated in a hearing held before the city’s Guarantee Court, around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, the woman entered the branch and, pretending to be a customer, went to the cashier area, where she handed a paper to the cashier demanding the delivery of the money, and later a second piece of paper, where she instructed him to put it inside a bag he was carrying.
Immediately afterwards, he displayed a weapon, apparently a firearm, and then, with the money in his possession, he left the bank and boarded the same vehicle in which he had arrived, which remained parked nearby.
The accused was arrested after rigorous investigative work that allowed her movements to be reconstructed, both inside the bank and outside it.
In this way, it was possible to identify, first, the car in which she was traveling, and later her home, where she was detained last night by Carabineros, after requesting the corresponding orders from the Guarantee Court.
At the scene, all of the stolen money and a fantasy weapon that would have been used to intimidate the bank teller during the robbery were recovered, which remained hidden inside a bag in the basement of the home.
The Regional Prosecutor of Antofagasta, Juan Castro Bekios, noted the important investigative work carried out, both by the Prosecutor’s Office and by OS9 of Carabineros, which allowed results to be obtained just a few hours after the incident was committed.
“The joint work of our specialized prosecutor’s office and OS9 allowed us to achieve these important and rapid results, in the face of a fact that caused great concern in the community,” held.
The city’s Guarantee Court established an investigation period of 60 days.
