President Gustavo Petro and Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo led a meeting at the Berns hotel in Stockholm with 25 ambassadors accredited before European nations and multilateral entities based in Europe.

Among those attending are ambassadors from Germany, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, and other prominent diplomatic representatives such as Armando Benedetti before the FAO, Alfonso Prada ambassador of Colombia in France and Roy Barreras ambassador in London.

During the meeting, significant news was learned regarding peace and international agreements, one of them, the ambassador to Spain, Eduardo Ávila, revealed that his country will present a proposal to the European Union to withdraw the ELN from the list of terrorist organizations, a measure that seeks to support the peace efforts that are being carried out in Colombia.

For his part, Alfonso Prada, ambassador to France, announced that will sign an extradition treaty with that country, allowing extradition for the first time of French citizens to Colombia. In addition, he highlighted the approval of a 200 million euro credit for rural reform in Colombia and the opening of a direct Avianca flight to Paris.

Assad Jatter, ambassador to Poland with representation in Ukraine, reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recognizes Colombia’s leadership in peace efforts in the conflict with Russia, This prior to the meeting that the Ukrainian president will have with President Petro.

In another announcement, Roy Barreras, ambassador to Great Britain, predicted a Labor victory in the next elections in the United Kingdom, pointing out that this could mean a favorable change towards Colombia’s policies.

Additionally, Deputy Minister Elizabeth Taylor Jay proposed a plan to welcome Palestinian children victims of the war in Gaza, an initiative which seeks to provide support and hope to minors affected by the conflict.

Finally, the ambassador to Sweden, César Reyes, announced the opening of a Procolombia office in that country, which will work to create the Colombo-Swedish Chamber of Innovation and Technology, orA crucial step to boost technological cooperation and innovation between countries.
