The exhibition “Through the Mirror” by photographer Germán Romani is being presented at the Photo Gallery of the San Martín Theater.

This exhibition, which can be visited from Tuesday to Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., presents a series of portraits of actors and actresses before and after playing their characters.

The exhibition focuses on theater and the transformation that actors experience in the dressing room, capturing intimate moments in front of the mirror. Romani explains: “I decided to go to the heart of the artist and what I consider his sacred space: the dressing room. There I found the element that, in my fantasy, catalyzes the process of entry and exit of the actor with the character and his mask: the mirror.

Rubén Szuchmacher, theater director, contributed with the theater text, highlighting the mystery and transformation that the actors experience when entering and leaving their characters. The exhibition allows the viewer to imagine “the middle photo”, the internal transformation that is not seen in the images.

Germán Romani is a photographer, graphic designer and plastic artist. He trained at the Argentine School of Photography (EAF) and has taken courses with prominent Argentine teachers such as Ataúlfo Pérez Aznar, Eduardo Gil, Carlos Galeano and Viana Zargón. His career includes work in image design for magazines such as Elle and Harper’s Bazaar of Argentina, as well as collaborations with the publishing house Planeta and Netflix. Currently, he coordinates the design area of La Carte magazine for Germany and is art director at L’Officiel Argentina and Forbes Uruguay.
