La Rioja Cardioprotegida: they sign an institutional cooperation agreement in order to reduce sudden morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular origin

This Thursday, in the “Coty Agost” Hall, on the Castro Barros Cultural Walk, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Ministries of Health and the Ministry of Security, Justice and Human Rights, to regulate a comprehensive prevention system for events due to sudden death. in public and private spaces with public access, in order to reduce sudden morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular origin.

The event was led by the Ministers of Public Health, Juan Carlos Vergara, and of Security, Justice and Human Rights, Miguel Ángel Zarate. It should be noted that, through the “La Rioja Cardioprotegida” Program, a Comprehensive Strategy for the Prevention of Sudden Death, the aim is to guarantee public access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation; reduce sudden morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular origin and achieve in the population the highest level of education and awareness of first aid management that tends to avoid sudden death.

The Minister of Health Juan Carlos Vergara highlighted the need to generate these agreements to train personnel, generate social awareness and teamwork to save lives. “We want to comply with provincial law No. 10,598 and, to do so, the greatest number of people from the different institutions of the State and the community must be trained in an important topic for public health such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to avoid cases of sudden death,” he noted.

“The call has been excellent and it is a successful day because many public servants who are in contact with the people will be able to act correctly in these situations that arise in the community and need trained personnel,” noted Vergara.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Security, Justice and Human Rights, Miguel Zárate, expressed that “we are talking about something very important because it is the possibility of saving a life, and all our police officers are public servants who are generally the first to arrive before “an urgent or emergency situation, it is important that they be prepared so that when a person is in a cardiopulmonary emergency they can be assisted by a police officer,” he indicated.

“This speaks of a commitment of the security forces in the fight against the different scourges and the closeness with our society, with our neighbors, which is what our governor asks of us, a security force increasingly closer to the people, prepared to assist in any situation,” he added.

The director of the Cardiovascular Network, Ariel Cejas Mariño, highlighted that the project arose with the Cardioprotected Province Law “where we began to train in cardiovascular resuscitation to act when the person falls unconscious anywhere. “Any person who is close to these accidents can be the first link to activate that chain of assistance, for that we have to know how to act,” he explained.

In this case, the security forces are incorporated into the program where around 9 thousand people have already been trained, and it will continue taking into account that the police have around 4 thousand personnel in functions who will be trained to provide this type of interventions.

Also present at the signing of the agreement were the Secretary of Promotion and Prevention, Marcia Ticac, the Secretary of Health Care, Gonzalo Calvo, and the Chief of the Police Commissioner General, Alberto Antonio Castillo, the Deputy Chief René Molina, the Director of Pablo Torres Sports Medicine, the Cardiovascular Network team and other Health authorities and the general public.
