Judge Eliana Gómez Moreira had initially ordered house arrest for 90 days, a period that was about to end next week. Faced with a new request from their defenses, which had previously been rejected, it was finally decided to grant them freedom with certain restrictions.

As confirmed to TN by a defense lawyer for Cufré and Osorio, the former players must establish an address in Argentina, appear in the Tucumán Courts once a month and will not be able to leave the country without judicial authorization.

The accusations and penalties they face

Braian Cufré and José Florentín They are accused as co-authors of sexual abuse with carnal access aggravated by the participation of two or more people, a crime that carries penalties of between eight and twenty years in prison, as stipulated in the Argentine Penal Code.

Abiel Osorio21 years old, is accused of sexual abuse with carnal access, facing a sentence ranging from six to fifteen years in prison.

For its part, Sebastian Sosa, the fourth person involved, is accused of aggravated sexual abuse as a secondary participant. Although he could receive a lesser sentence due to his role in the crime, he faces the same minimum sentences of eight years in prison as his colleagues.

Denial of Sebastián Sosa’s request to leave the country

In a separate request, Sebastián Sosa’s defense had asked for permission so that the goalkeeper could leave the country and return to play football in Uruguay, his homeland.

However, this request was rejected after the appearance of new videos that could aggravate his situation in the case. The Justice decided that Sosa must remain in Argentina and be at the disposal of the judicial authorities of Tucuman.

Judicial process underway

Both Sosa and his former colleagues must appear in Tucumán as many times as necessary until the trial takes place. The decision to release Florentín, Cufré and Osorio with restrictions generated diverse opinions in the community, while it is expected that the judicial process will continue its course to clarify the facts and determine the corresponding responsibilities.

This case captured public and media attention, highlighting the importance of justice and due process in situations as sensitive as allegations of sexual abuse.
