Qhapaq Ñan 10th Anniversary Program

The opening ceremony will be attended by authorities from the Government of Salta, including the Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Dr. Cristina Fiore Viñuales; the Secretary of Culture, Lic. Diego Ashur Mas; and the Undersecretary of Cultural Heritage, Architect Claudia Lamas.

The activities will continue with interventions by representatives of the Local Management Units and the Qhapaq Ñan Indigenous Table, from Tastil, Potrero de Payogasta, Los Graneros de La Poma and Tolar Grande, who will offer words alluding to the commemoration.

At 11:30 a.m., Diego Sberna, director of Qhapaq Ñan – World Heritage, will give the talk “Cultural Itineraries as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.” Next, Dr. Christian Vitry, General Director of Preservation and Research, will give the talk “Qhapaq Ñan – Andean Road System: 20 years of work.”

In the afternoon, starting at 2 p.m., videos about Qhapaq Ñan will be shown, followed by the presentation of the book “Qhapaq Ñan – Conservation Works with Community Participation”, by Dr. Christian Vitry.

The day will culminate with the presentation of certificates of recognition to those who collaborate in the maintenance of Qhapaq Ñan Salta and educational materials to secondary schools in the Qhapaq Ñan School Network.

The celebrations will continue on Thursday in Jujuy, in Santa Ana, Quebrada Grande – Las Escaleras, extending the commemoration to this region.
