ANDl Second Specialized Court of Valledupar imposed a sentence of 51 years in prison to Jeremía Rangel Mora and Jonathan Arely Ortiz Torres, alias ‘La Bruja’, as co-authors of the crimes of kidnapping for ransom, manufacturing, trafficking or carrying a firearm and aggravated robbery.

Those sentenced must pay a fine of 17,500 current legal monthly minimum wages for the year 2020 in favor of the nation. They will also not be able to exercise public functions for 20 years.

The sentence must be served in a prison in Valledupar.

The events occurred on January 9, 2020, on the Potosí farm, located in the San Quintín village Pueblo Bello (Cesar)owned by Pablo Emilio Poches Romero.

According to the investigations carried out by the competent authorities, Jeremías Rangel Mora and Jonathan Arely Ortiz Torres They violently broke into the coffee property along with another subject identified as Carlos Mario Marín Alzate, carrying firearms and sharps.

They threatened to kill Mr. Numa Francisco Villazón, forced him to sell a fraction of coffee in the town, taking the money from its sale, equivalent to $900 thousand.

They identified themselves as members of the group ‘Las Águilas Negras’, then, without saying a word, they tied up Emilio Poches Romero, his daughter Natalia Poches Vega and other people who were in the place, including Edilson Cáceres Montero, Edgar David Araujo, Rafael Torres, Julio Adalberto Niño, Armando Armenta, Jairo Faustino Cáceres and Numa Francisco Villazón.

According to witnesses, the victims were locked against their will in different rooms on the property.

Minutes later, The subjects searched the property and seized several material assets, including a gold ring, groceries and 700 thousand pesos.

“They threatened to kill Mr. Numa Francisco Villazón, they forced him to sell a fraction of coffee in the town, taking the money from its sale, equivalent to $900 thousand,” reads the investigation by the corresponding authorities.

During the day, they took the daughter of the owner of the property to a room, under threat of harming her with a machete, she was sexually assaulted by one of the three subjects who posed as the leader of the group that was holding the victims. .

“The three subjects had the owner of the farm Pablo Emilio Poches Romero, father of the detained young woman, transported to the town in search of the woman’s identity document because she did not have it with her, which the captors used to accuse her of being a guerrilla. Fearing what could happen, Poches Romero went to a police station and reported the events,” the investigation document details.

After learning of the situation, the Police and National Army launched a special operation and captured Jeremía Rangel Mora, Jonathan Arely Ortiz Torres and Carlos Marín Alzate.

The detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent authorities and were presented before the First Municipal Criminal Court with Guarantee Control Functions, which decided to send them to prison.
