He Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, and Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, met this Friday in Stockholm, where the two governments have signed a ‘roadmap’ to intensify cooperation in various areas, including the clarification of irregularities in international adoptions.

“Today we met with the Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, to talk about the deep cooperative relationship that our countries have and the shared commitments in matters of development of renewable energy, electromobility and lithium production in a sustainable way,” Boric wrote in the social network

“Thus, we intensified cooperation with Sweden, particularly regarding support in clarifying irregular adoptions during the military dictatorship in our country,” he added.

With this, he made reference to the ‘roadmap’ signed this Thursday in Stockholm by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Alberto van Klaveren, and the Swedish Minister of Cooperation and Foreign Trade, Johan Forssell, to deepen bilateral relations between both countries.

This agreement aims to increase cooperation in areas such as multilateral forums, trade issues, sustainable transportation solutions, mining issues and green transition, but also includes the establishment of a dialogue to clarify alleged irregularities in international adoptions during the Pinochet dictatorship.

The Ministers of Transport and Telecommunications of Chile, Juan Carlos Muñoz, and the Swedish Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Andreas Carlson, They also signed a letter of intent to increase cooperation on sustainable transportation.

The Swedish Prime Minister said that the meeting with Boric was “fruitful” and discussed cooperation between both countries and geopolitical issues.

“I especially appreciate the president’s clear voice against Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine: together we will show that the future belongs to those of us who believe in peace and freedom,” Kristersson wrote on the X social network.

Boric was accompanied in the meeting with Kristersson by the chancellor, Alberto van Klaveren; the Minister of Economy, Nicolás Grau; that of Justice, Luis Cordero; that of Transportation, Juan Carlos Muñoz; and that of Science, Aisén Echeverry.

In turn, on behalf of the Swedish Prime Minister, the Ministers of Infrastructure and Housing, Gender Equality and the Labor Market, as well as Education attended the meeting.

The Chilean president is also scheduled to be received this Friday by King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden before traveling on Saturday to the peace summit on the Ukrainian war in Switzerland.
