The Municipality of Santa Fe inaugurated bike lanes and mobility works in Ciudad Universitaria

The mayor of Santa Fe, Juan Pablo Poletti, inaugurated, together with the rector of the National University of the Litoral, Enrique Mammarella, the new bike lanes, pedestrian paths and new accesses to the University City. The works are part of an agreement that was signed with the Municipality of Santa Fe to promote active mobility, improve accessibility, road safety and traffic management in general.

The works include a cycle path that extends through the urban sector between the Hanging Bridge and the collector entrance to the University City and, parallel to it, an exclusive pedestrian path. In detail, This is 350 linear meters of bicycle paths, another 320 meters of sidewalks that were repaired, 611 linear meters of pedestrian paths with paving stone finish so that they are easy to identify their different uses and 470 linear meters of pedestrian paths incorporated into the roundabout.

The bicycle lane and the pedestrian path will be accompanied by traffic management and signage operations to guarantee the safety of those passing through. The transit circuit is completed with the bicycling of the public bicycle system that was installed in Ciudad Universitaria in November and which is also part of the agreement.

After the presentation of the works, Juan Pablo Poletti He stressed the importance of continuing with public policies: “It is important that these processes continue whoever is in the State. This is a bit of what we have to value, a project that began in another administration last year and that was not cut or aborted due to a change in management. The children must be given the conditions so that they can arrive safely and in a sustainable environment. In this sense, the city has to be collaborative.”

He also anticipated: “We want to continue working together. We have an idea to improve the circulation of the collectors that access the Technology Park, the University City, and the East Coast. “We also want to make a safe corridor at night and improve the organization of the collectors with Route 168 in the middle.”

To its turn, Mammarella thanked the mayor for the works Poletti and pointed out: “This work allowed us to give the area the necessary coexistence between the pedestrian crossing and the cycle path. Now you can reach the entrance to Ciudad Universitaria and our property. It was important to provide security to all users, not just the students, teachers and non-teachers who come to this area.”

Public bikes and Sustainable Mobility station

Three fixed public bicycle stations from the Municipality have already been installed in Ciudad Universitaria. In addition, a Sustainable Mobility Station is now available to the entire educational community to carry out bicycle repairs. It is a workshop where vehicles can be placed in a comfortable position to be repaired, which also has a compressor, a pressure gauge, tools to repair punctures, to adjust the handlebars, seats and brakes and a dispenser to refill bottles. of fresh water.
