Montería, Córdoba, June 13, 2024. The fifth payment cycle of the Colombia Mayor program reaches its last day with 97% coverage.
The increase in the subsidy, implemented since last May 29, has been key to providing greater economic support and contributing to the quality of life of older adults in the region.
29,982 older adults 80 years old in the department began to receive the subsidy tripled, which went from 80,000 pesos to 225,000 pesos.
Dalila Tamayo, regional director of Social Prosperity in Córdoba, celebrated the increase in the payment of this subsidy. “From Social Prosperity we celebrate, with great joy, the increase we had, that is, that differentiated payment of 225 thousand pesos that around 30 thousand grandparents received in our department. We then moved on to an investment of around 8 billion pesos and, in this cycle, with that differential payment, we managed to impact almost 12 billion pesos within the department of Córdoba,” she noted.
“The way to celebrate this important cycle was through massive payments that we made at different points and there we welcomed, through municipal liaisons, each of these grandparents. We were in Cereté, one of the municipalities that has the most impact within the department, where around 1,821 grandparents today receive that payment of 225 thousand pesos,” Tamayo highlighted.
This increase responds to the Government of Change’s commitment to especially protect those over 80 years of age, who are in a situation of helplessness, who lack a pension or live in extreme poverty.
Those elderly beneficiaries of the program, who have not yet received the subsidy, must go to the SuperGiros payment points with their identification document, since the deadline for payments ends this Thursday, June 13.
