The Manufactured Gas Company reported on the use of a new odorant › Cuba › Granma

The Manufactured Gas Company, belonging to the Cuba Petroleum Union (Cupet), will begin to use a new product as an odorant for the perception and detection of gas leaks, the most notable difference of which is an unusual smell, similar to that of garlic.

In a note published by Cupet on its Facebook page, it is highlighted that the insertion of the new product responds to the non-availability of the employee to date.

The use of this odorant will begin in the Playa-Marianao capital network, starting on Wednesday, June 19, and the smell will be felt, gradually, as it is incorporated into the network.

The note warns that, later, it will be extended to the entire Havana network, maintaining the monitoring and sampling necessary for control.

This new product acquired was studied and analyzed by specialists who ensure its quality, also supported by its wide use as an odorant in Europe and China.

They confirmed that it does not pose health hazards, and constitutes a safety measure to detect leaks that could lead to accidents.
