The Congress of the Republic approved Law 2352 of 2024, through which the Traditional Tambora Festival of the Municipality of Gamarra. This decision is an important milestone for the preservation and promotion of the region’s cultural wealth.

The Traditional Drum Festival It is an annual celebration that takes place in the municipality of Gamarra. The drum is a characteristic musical instrument of the Colombian Caribbean coast, and its sound is fundamental in the cultural identity of Gamarra and the river Cupcake.

The bill was introduced by Congressman Libardo Cruz, who was mayor of Gamarra. “The most important point of our law is that it authorizes the Government to make or allocate resources for the realization of the Drum Festival”Cruz noted.

Upon being declared Intangible National Heritage, the Colombian State undertakes to adopt measures to protect, conserve and disseminate this cultural manifestation. This recognition highlights the importance of the festival as a key element of Colombia’s identity and cultural heritageand opens the door to greater efforts of preservation, research and dissemination of this tradition.
