People, communities, workplaces, organizations and municipalities featured in the voluntary blood donor program in the province, received the hospitality of Party officials and the highest authorities of Public Health and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) in Artemisa, regarding the celebration of June 14, World Blood Donor Day.
Among those recognized at the day, Elier Blanco Rodríguez stood out, who at only 27 years old has accumulated more than 35 donations. The young man belongs to the town of Godínez, which, together with Tabaco Rubio, constitute the two most prominent communities, both located in Candelaria.
Likewise, the tobacco brigade number 4, belonging to the Carlos Rodríguez Careaga UEB.
That municipality deserved Vanguard status. For three consecutive years it has exceeded the number of planned donations.
Mariel, Caimito and Bahía Honda obtained the Outstanding category, as well as the Provincial Headquarters of the Minint and the Máximo Gómez Báez Thermoelectric Plant.
Annia Thompson Blanco, provincial coordinator of the CDR in Artemisa, recalled the example given by Fidel Castro Ruz in offering such a humanistic and supportive gesture, and congratulated all voluntary blood donors for the altruistic work they do.
In Cuba, a National Blood Donor Day is celebrated that begins on June 6, in tribute to the donation made by the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, at the Provincial Bank of Havana, on that date in 1970. , to help the people of Peru, victims of an earthquake. Along with him, more than 100 thousand Cubans contributed to the cause.
The day ends on the 14th, World Blood Donor Day. Its purpose is to thank such people for their contribution to saving lives.
