Rioja Cardioprotegida: they seek to reduce sudden morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular origin

Through the “La Rioja Cardioprotegida” Program, a Comprehensive Sudden Death Prevention Strategy, aims to guarantee public access to cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation; reduce sudden morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular origin and achieve in the population the highest level of education and awareness of first aid management that tends to avoid sudden death.

The Minister of Health Juan Carlos Vergara highlighted the need to generate these agreements to train personnel, generate social awareness and teamwork to save lives. “We want to comply with provincial law No. 10,598 and, to do so, the greatest number of people from the different institutions of the State and the community must be trained in an important topic for public health such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to avoid cases of sudden death,” he noted.

“The call has been excellent and it is a successful day because many public servants who are in contact with the people will be able to act correctly in these situations that arise in the community and need trained personnel,” noted Vergara.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Security, Justice and Human Rights, Miguel Zárate, expressed: “we are talking about something very important because it is the possibility of saving a life, and all our police officers are public servants who are generally the first to arrive before “an urgent or emergency situation, it is important that they be prepared so that when a person is in a cardiopulmonary emergency they can be assisted by a police officer,” he indicated.

In this case, the security forces are incorporated into the program where around 9 thousand people have already been trained, and the police have around 4 thousand personnel on duty who will be trained to provide this type of interventions.
