Haro (La Rioja), June 15 (EFE).- The great wines from century-old wineries in Haro, in the Rioja Qualified Denomination of Origin (DOCa), have been merged this Saturday with the gastronomy of six Michelin stars, representatives of the new generation that revolutionizes the gastronomy of Spain.

This great gastronomic event, which is in its fifth edition and named La Cata del Barrio de la Estación, is “the best expression of what wine tourism, good food and good relationships mean.”

This is what Jaime García, accompanied by his wife, María Pascual, told EFE, with whom he has been attending this tasting for three years, organized by the century-old wineries in the Barrio de la Estación in Haro and which has brought together some 3,500 people, according to organization data.

The German Kirsten Meck explained to EFE that it is the first time she has come to La Rioja and that she has done so to participate in this event, which she described as “very interesting” due to the possibility of getting to know wineries in La Rioja and, specifically, from Haro, linked to gastronomy.

This Tasting is promoted by CVNE, Bodegas Bilbaínas-Viña Pomal, Gómez Cruzado, La Rioja Alta, SA, Muga and Bodegas RODA.

Twelve wines selected for this edition, of different styles and production approaches, have been fused with the gastronomy of a new generation of chefs who energize the country’s gastronomy.

The pinchos have been cooked by the Michelin star restaurants Ikaro, Nublo and Ajonegro in La Rioja; El Serbal, Michelin-starred gastronomy in Cantabria, and Cobo Estratos and Erre de Roca, both Michelin-starred projects in Castilla y León.

Added to this is the cuisine of Alberto Toribio from the Delicious Gastronomía catering, in Logroño.

The sweet creation of La Cata del Barrio de la Estación has been signed by the master pastry chef and chocolatier Juan Ángel Rodrigálvarez, from his Kankel Bean to Bar project.

In addition, the ‘gourmet’ gastro area of the event has made it possible to taste a pantry of artisanal and sustainable products, representative of the best flavor of its territories.

The Barrio de la Estación Tasting has thus offered a journey through the pantries of La Rioja, the Basque Country, Castilla y León, Cantabria, Ecuador and Mexico and a journey through the cultures, experiences and influences of the chefs who have participated in the fifth edition.

In parallel, the wineries have opened their doors to carry out activities that demonstrate the link with the wine culture they treasure.

The starting point of La Cata del Barrio de la Estación was the musical tasting conducted yesterday, Friday, by the writer and wine critic for Robert Parker’s publication ‘The Wine Advocate’, Luis Gutiérrez, who traveled over seven decades through eight iconic wines from these wine companies. EFE
