Faced with the effects on public order and security in the department of Cesar, the Attorney General’s Office asked the governor, Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila, to develop prevention and reaction measures to mitigate security and coexistence problems.

The control entity in turn urged the commander of the Tenth Brigade, Cesar Augusto Martinez, the director of the department’s Prosecutor’s Office, Gloria Cassiani Niño, and the commander of the Police, Eduardo Chamorro Pinzón, to develop the necessary actions and provide also information in their territories to reduce the feeling of insecurity and unrest throughout the territory.

Due to this, in communication to officials, the Public Ministry requested the management of the Security councils in order to strengthen the articulation of the actions of the different institutions and finally, deploy operations at the regional, local and departmental level in matters of security.

Therefore, Regional Cesar requested “the participation of the municipal authorities taking into account the provisions of article 277 of the Political Constitution and decree 1851 of 2021.”
