A truck driver from the town of Gobernador Virasoro had to be rescued by firefighters when he was trapped inside the Ivecco truck that was transporting a load of wood and it lost its way and overturned in the central flower bed at kilometer 42 of national route 14.
The man from Corrientes was trapped in the cabin and was rescued by a team of Gualeguaychú Volunteer Firefighters and was referred with multiple trauma to the Medical Guard of the Centenario Hospital by the Vida emergency cooperative. The driver was conscious at the time of the rescue.
Police sources reported that the truck was traveling in the direction of Buenos Aires to Entre Ríos and a large part of the cargo was scattered in the fast lane in the opposite direction. Fortunately, the motorists avoided the wood in time. Immediately, the Prevention and Road Safety Directorate of the Entre Ríos Police set up a traffic assistance operation in conjunction with the National Gendarmerie.
Then traffic continued to be assisted until the wood was removed and with a crane the overturned truck was moved with the semi-trailer to free the area, the Highway Police stated.
