A young man of only 20 years old, identified as Fabián Whittaker, was stabbed to death by a co-worker while he was working at a MSME located in the Pedro A. Pérez Polyfunctional Plaza in Guantánamo.
The victim, described by family and friends as a kind and hard-working person, lost his life at his workplace, where he worked as a security guard, reported Internet user Irma Broek, who provided the details of the crime.
A resident of Guantánamo said that according to versions circulating, the young man was attacked by two boys who started a riot in the premises and since Whittaker was in charge of the security of the place he wanted to intervene and they killed him.
“I still can’t believe you’re gone, how unfair life is, how unfair,” said a cousin of the victim, visibly affected by the tragedy.
“Fabi, you were good. I can’t stand so much pain that you left in my soul, what a hole you have left in people, because you gave yourself to love (…) They didn’t even let you defend yourself,” he stressed in a post on Facebook.
This unfortunate fact adds to a worrying wave of violence that seems to be increasing on the island, where several cases of homicides have been recorded in recent months.
On June 12, the murder of a jeweler in Havana, and two days later, on June 14, a custodian of a cooperative in Santiago de Cuba he was murdered in similar circumstances.
Furthermore, recently, a young man was murdered during a party at a social circle in Holguín.
