Five players from the League to accompany Messi in the Copa América

Lionel Scaloni, the Argentine coach, has announced the list of players who will seek to repeat their victory in the Copa América. The final phase will begin in the early hours of Friday, June 21. The opening match will be played by the Albiceleste against Canada. The current World and American champions will have five players from the Spanish league in their ranks, three defenders and two midfielders. Betis and Atlético de Madrid will contribute two players each. Germán Pezzella and Guido Rodriguez on behalf of the green and white team. Nahuel Molina and Rodrigo De Paul will be from Cholo Simeone’s team.

Sevilla will be the third team that will contribute, Marcos Acuña as left back. Although he has arrived with little experience after the injury he suffered in his left leg, they place him as a starter in the Argentine eleven. After the preparation match against Guatemala, in which they won 1-4, Scaloni had to leave three men out. One of those chosen is Ángel Correa, an Atlético de Madrid player, who has barely counted for his coach. The other two discarded were Valentín Barco, from Brighton, and Leonardo Balerdi, from Olympique de Marseille.

Leo Messi, Ángel Di María and Julián Álvarez will command a team very similar to the one that triumphed a year and a half ago in Qatar. In the group stage, the Argentines will play against Peru, Chile and Canada. It is the main favorite to retain the title, with Vinicius and Rodrygo’s Brazil as its biggest rival.
