Joint Coordination Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement and Group of 77 and China demand immediate exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

New York, June 15, 2024.- The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Group of 77 and China, through its Joint Coordination Committee, demanded the immediate exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

In the statement, issued this Friday, June 14, both the NAM, the G-77 and China denounce that the inclusion of Cuba in the aforementioned list of the US State Department is an unfair and unfounded accusation that serves as a pretext to impose additional unilateral coercive measures against the Greater Antilles and that has strengthened to unprecedented levels the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Cuban people.

The text calls on the US government to “end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the sister nation of Cuba for more than six decades and which constitutes the greatest impediment to its full development.”

Likewise, the NAM and the G-77 and China urge strict compliance with the 31 resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on the need to end the blockade against Cuba.

The Group of 77 and China is made up of 134 States of the international community, while the Non-Aligned Movement brings together 121 Member States and 18 Observers.

Below is the text of the statement:

Declaration of the Joint Coordination Committee of the NAM-G77 demanding the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism and the lifting of unilateral coercive measures against the Cuban people.

Recently, the United States government announced the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries that do not fully comply with US anti-terrorist efforts.

However, the State Department maintains Cuba on the unilateral list of states that allegedly sponsor terrorism. This unjust and unfounded accusation serves as a pretext to impose additional unilateral coercive measures against Cuba and has increased the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Cuban people to unprecedented levels. The Joint Coordination Committee of the NAM and the G77 plus China urges the immediate exclusion of Cuba from that unilateral list.

The Joint Coordination Committee reiterates its call to the US Government to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed against that sister nation for more than six decades, which constitutes the greatest impediment to its total development. The Joint Coordination Committee also reiterates its firm rejection of the imposition of laws and regulations with extraterritorial impact and all other forms of coercive measures, including unilateral sanctions against developing countries, and reiterates the imperative need to eliminate them immediately.

The Joint Coordination Committee of the NAM and the G77 plus China urges strict compliance with the 31 resolutions adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on the “Need to end the economic embargocommercial and financial imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.
