Havana: One of the athletes who will prestige the Cuban delegation at the Paris Olympic Games is the boxer Arlen López Cardona, who arrives with the endorsement of being a double monarch in these events, as well as world champion in the Doha 2015 edition.
The man from Guantanamo has carried out an excellent preparation, which he will complete in France along with the rest of the team. “We have been training hard here in our country. We still have a few days left to get into top form and we are going to achieve this on the competition stage.”.
Although he had no rivals who challenged him, the Playa Girón National Tournament held in his native Guantánamo helped him seek distance in the ring. “We took it as a kind of training camp, the fact of having few combats in recent months, this helped us raise the tactical level”.
Arlen knows that Paris 2024 will be his last Olympic Games. On the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, his family will be aware of each of the blows he unleashes in the ring.
Family plays a fundamental role, it is my driving force, every day we sacrifice for them. The time has come to separate us for a few days, but I am convinced that the sacrifice in the end will give the result that everyone expects, have confidence that that third medal is coming to Cuba.
