San Luis Potosí could exceed 3 billion dollars in foreign direct investment this year, reported Jesús Salvador González Martínez, head of the Secretariat of Economic Development (Sedeco), who said that, for example, the possibility of a new assembly plant being installed in the state, this time of Chinese origin, remains open.

The state official indicated that 2024 is a “delicate” year due to political issues such as elections in Mexico and the United Stateswhich affect the economic sphere, “we handled the first event (the election in Mexico) perfectly because the flow of investment continues, and we are waiting for what happens in the United States.”

Despite the political panorama, he pointed out that in San Luis Potosí “we will surely exceed 3 billion dollars in foreign direct investment installed in the state, we already have more than 50% (of the projected investment) and with many new creation projects“.

Although the negotiation with the shipowner has taken time, González Martínez justified that “decision-making is not easy, not just Mexico is analyzed, but several countries,” however San Luis Potosí is attractive for its geographical location, for its connectivity with the trade corridor with the United States, and what has been done in terms of security, infrastructure and mobility.
