It happened this morning. The train drivers managed to spot the man, but were unable to stop in time. He was rescued alive, but unfortunately died from multiple injuries.
In the early hours of this Sunday, the community of Grass was shocked by a fatal train accident which claimed the life of a local residentidentified as Leonardo Juarez.
The tragic event occurred minutes after midnight, when the Gramilla sub-police station received an alert from neighbors about an incident on the train tracks.
The uniformed officers went to the scene and They met with the train driver, Franco Ramón Santucho, native of La Banda. Santucho explained that he and his colleague, Abel Raúl Acostawere traveling from Cevil Pozo, Tucumán, to San Lorenzo, Rosario, with 70 wagons loaded with soybeans. While they were crossing Gramilla, before reaching the second level crossing, they noticed a person lying on the tracks.. Despite attempts to stop, They failed to stop the locomotive in time and ran over the man.
The train stopped and the drivers returned to the point of impact, where, with the help of neighbors, they identified the victim as Leonardo Juárez. Juárez was rescued alive from under the cars, but had multiple injuries. He was transferred first to the El Charco district hospital and then to the Comprehensive Health Center of Termas de Río Hondowhere unfortunately passed away.
At the accident site, Officers found two boxes of wine near where Juarez had been run over.. Prosecutor Carlos Vega ordered an exhaustive investigation and ordered that the victim’s body be taken to the morgue for the corresponding autopsy. The interview of the train drivers and their subsequent release was also ordered, as well as the carrying out of forensic examinations by the Criminalistics personnel.
