Santa Cruz is the new champion of the XXXI National Tournament of Departmental Under-20 Futsal Teams, for the men’s branch, which concluded on Saturday night at the Cancha Vieja Coliseum in the city of Trinidad, Beni.

In an exciting finale, The Santa Cruz team defeated Chuquisaca 2-1 and in that way he took the Olympic tour on Benian soil. He played five matches during the tournament, winning four and losing one.

Eight teams participated in the tournament, that in the first phase were divided into two groups. In A, Beni, Pando, Chuquisaca and Cochabamba coincided; while group B was made up of Santa Cruz, Tarija, La Paz and Potosí.

Santa Cruz did not have a good start in the championship, since in their debut they surprisingly lost against Potosí by 3-2; However, they won their next two matches against La Paz (8-0) and Tarija (5-2).

Those two victories allowed the green and white team occupy second place in their series with 6 points, only behind Potosí which accumulated 7 units. Tarija (4 points) and La Paz (0) were eliminated.

In group A, The first place was occupied by Beni (7 units), followed by Chuquisaca (6), Pando (4) and Cochabamba (0).

In the semi-final phase, Santa Cruz defeated Beni 7-2 and left the host out of the race. In the other semifinal Chuquisaca beat Potosí 4-1.

Before the final is played between Santa Cruz and Chuquisaqueños, as a preliminary, The match for third place was played between Beni and Potosí. During regulation time the match ended tied (2-2), so they went to penalties, with the Potosí team winning 5-4.
