“We are calling on the National Government to more forcefully address the problems of insecurity in Cali and Jamundí. This is a national problem, not just ours, because there are terrorist groups that are carrying out terrorist attacks against the civilian population. and we need greater force from the Public Force, we need more force of professional soldiers… The problem that we are experiencing in Valle del Cauca, Cali and Jamundí, is a problem at the national level“said the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder.

Among the five requests, the increase in force, actions against illegal mining and drug trafficking stand out; more resources and coordinated work with civil society and unions; develop a strategy against the recruitment of children and adolescents and resources to increase prison capacity and additional resources from the National Fund for Citizen Security and Coexistence for investment in the municipalities of the metropolitan area.
The requests will be sent in a letter to the National Government.
For its part, the private sector, represented by the Inter-Union Committee of Valle del Cauca, called on President Gustavo Petro to serve the people of Valle del Cauca and the department’s security problems.
