The embrace of victory: Rafael Dudamel and the Mayor of Bucaramanga merged in a hug

After the triumph of ‘El Leopardo’, the team’s coach Rafael Dudamel and the Mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán, hugged each other.

Atlético Bucaramanga has united the city. The Santander team obtained its first star after an agonizing penalty shootout in which Aldair Quintana was decisive.

In the middle of the celebration on the grass of the Nemesio Camacho El Campín stadium, an emotional postcard was presented: the hug in which the coach of the Santander team, Rafael Dudamel, and the mayor of Bucaramanga, Jaime Andrés Beltrán Martínez, united. “We did it, blessed God!” was the message that resonated after the meeting between both personalities.

Meanwhile, the city is experiencing a party atmosphere that will be remembered by fans and outsiders.

As announced, the Bucaramanga Mayor’s Office decreed next Monday, June 17, as a civic day. Likewise, it was learned that the Santander team will arrive at the Palonegro international airport around 10:00 am this Sunday, June 16.

Suffered match

With an immense Aldair Quintana, Atlético Bucaramanga achieved victory through penalties, in a match full of emotions. The goalkeeper of the Santander team saved two shots that allowed the victory, after a 3-3 draw on the aggregate score.

The match in Bogotá began with an adverse result for Bucaramanga. The team led by Rafael Dudamel was able to recover from Hugo Rodallega’s goal with tactical adjustments and the fighting spirit that characterized the squad during the tournament.

At the start of the second half, Bucaramanga showed its courage and after a corner kick Daniel Mosquera scored 2-1 for the ‘auriverdes’. After an extensive VAR review, center back Carlos Betancur confirmed the goal that put Dudamel’s team ahead.

Once they gained the advantage, the Santander team made some changes to ensure the result, but suffered and could not maintain the difference. In the last minutes, Santa Fe threw all its resources into the attack and came back in the game, forcing penalties.
