The uniformed man had been reported missing since May 26, they believed he had been kidnapped, but he was found by the authorities in a pool hall in Bogotá

In the last few hours it was learned that the Police captured a patrolman from the institution who, apparently, had been reported missing since last May 26, when he had to return to work after a vacation period. However, he never showed up at the Saravena Police Station, Arauca, where he was assigned. The patrolman was identified as Luis Alberto Morales Almonacid and was found by the authorities playing a ‘boy’ of billiards.

According to information revealed by media from the department of Arauca, Morales Almonacid was on leave and had supposedly traveled from Mariquita, Tolima, where he is from, to Saravena. However, neither his family nor his friends heard from him again. He also did not report to the Police Station where he had to continue with his duties as an agent.

Once the alleged disappearance of patrolman Morales was reported, several messages were spread on social networks in which his family apparently requested help to locate him and inform the authorities. Well, almost 20 days later, the Police found the active police officer playing billiards in a commercial establishment in the city of Bogotá.

The unusual situation was recorded on video and shows the moment in which a patrolman asks him for his identification and then reads him his rights before arresting him. The patrolman accepted that he should report to the Police Station in Saravena and was handcuffed in the same pool hall where he was found.

Why was he captured?

In accordance with article 107 of the Military Penal Code, “The Officer or Non-Commissioned Officer of the Public Force, or the staff of agents or of the executive level of the National Police who abandons the duties of the position for more than five (5) consecutive days, or does not report to the respective superior within the same term counted from the date indicated by the regulations or superior orders, for the fulfillment of acts of the service, or does not appear within five (5) days following the date of expiration of a license, permit, vacation or its legally communicated cancellation will incur a prison sentence of one (1) to three (3) years.”
